Where Can Cricketers Train Indoors Year Round in Surrey?

PowerPlay RH1 Indoor Cricket Centre in Redhill, Surrey is open every day of the year with 3 nets, 4 bowling machines, and FullTrack AI camera analysis per lane. As a D40 disability cricketer living with Parkinson's disease, consistent indoor net practice is what keeps me competitive. PowerPlay has what that requires, and this is why I train here.
About the Venue

What is PowerPlay RH1 Indoor Cricket Centre?

PowerPlay RH1 is a dedicated indoor cricket training facility in Redhill, Surrey. It was incorporated in October 2024, built around a straightforward premise: Surrey cricketers needed a proper year-round training space, and nothing like it existed in the area. The result is a purpose-built centre with 3 fully equipped lanes, 4 bowling machines covering pace and spin, FullTrack AI video analysis, a gym, and a cricket shop inside the building.

PowerPlay RH1 has historically supported the wider Surrey cricket community, previously sponsoring the Surrey Cricket Foundation's Cricket Collective Coach of the Year Awards. Guest coaches who have run sessions at PowerPlay include Saqlain Mushtaq and former England fast bowler Chris Tremlett.

What bowling machines does PowerPlay RH1 have?

Four bowling machines cover every type of delivery. That range matters for a disability cricketer: one session spent facing the Trueman at pace, the next against the Merlyn building footwork for spin. It is that variety in a single venue that makes PowerPlay worth training at.

Machine Type Key Feature
Trueman Pace Automatic, tablet-controlled. Adjustable speed, line and length, variations.

Spin Simulates international-standard spin bowling. One of only 150 Merlyn machines in existence worldwide.
BOLA Professional UFO Pace / Medium Manual-feed. Consistent release point. Used for technical drill work.
FreeBowler Pace (Arm-simulated) Replicates a natural bowling arm action. Designed for elite-level preparation.
Analysis Technology

What technology does PowerPlay RH1 use for cricket training?

PowerPlay RH1 uses FullTrack AI, a dual HD camera system installed in every lane. PowerPlay is the only cricket centre in the country running this technology. Each session can be filmed from two angles simultaneously and reviewed for technique analysis. Pocket Radar provides ball speed data per delivery.

For a cricketer managing Parkinson's, being able to watch back footage of footwork and bat arc is not a nice-to-have. It is how you work out what the tremor is affecting between sessions and what the drills are actually correcting.

FullTrack AIDual HD camera system per lane. Only centre in the country with this technology. Simultaneous dual-angle footage for technique review.
Pocket RadarBall speed measurement per delivery. Tracks consistency across a session and machine calibration accuracy.
Gym and S&COnsite strength and conditioning gym. Training and net practice in one building, without needing to travel between facilities.
Surrey Sports ShopOnsite retail stocking Grey-Nicolls, Chase, Masuri and Duncan Fearnley. Equipment available the same day you need it.
In the Middle

How has training at PowerPlay changed match performances?

Parkinson's disease affects grip strength, wrist rotation, coordination and stamina. All four matter in a batting innings. The tremor you can manage in net practice becomes harder to manage at the crease with fielders up and pressure on. Consistent machine work at PowerPlay builds the muscle memory that carries you through that pressure.

I play club cricket at Merstham CC in Surrey and compete in D40 disability cricket at county level. Consistent net work at PowerPlay has translated directly to the scorebook: batting performances have improved to strike rates in excess of 80, more time at the crease, and a half century scored in 62 deliveries including 10 fours. Scorecards are verified on Play-Cricket.

"Match scores improved from below 10 to a half century in 62 deliveries including 10 fours, with strike rates in excess of 80. Verified on Play-Cricket."
